So I have cover art on pretty much all my music which I get on iTunes.
But if I use VirtualDJ to edit the tag and I click "Write Tag" to commit changes to the file and not just the database, it frequently clears the album art.
Why does it not recognise the album art set by iTunes half the time? I can't even 'get' the embedded art or copy to clipboard or something so I can at least preserve it. I am using latest version, but this has been an issue for quite some time, just today it's really bugging me having to go back through tracks and re-find album art that I already had.

It's my understanding that iTunes stores the cover art separately to the file, rather than in the tag info.
Ideally VDJ would copy it from the location into the file tag when saving. If it's not, then you can easily click the cover box and pick something from the available online choices.
